Landmarks

It was time for a summer theme to my header, and so yesterday I added in the one above, taken at Richmond Landing last summer, showing the Ottawa River upstream from Parliament Hill.

Two more shots today from the Gatineau tulip bed I left off with yesterday. The Portage Bridge can be seen in the background as it heads back towards Ottawa.

Heading back across the river, I paused to photograph this bed of tulips.

I carried on heading for the downtown. My first stop was the nearby Garden of the Provinces and Territories, a park setting with gardens and water features on terraces. Tulips are planted here among the various plants, mostly white in this bed. The church in the background is Christ Church Cathedral.

Up on the terraced areas, the tulips this year were more colourful.

Across from the Garden and a neighbour to Christ Church is this church, St. Peter's Lutheran Church. That tree can always be counted on to be blooming during the Tulip Festival.

I headed across the street from the Garden, where the main quarters of Library and Archives Canada stands. There were tulips in the flower beds flanking the main entrance. This government organization is the general Canadian version of the Library of Congress, for my American readers. Tomorrow we look at some tulips to the east side of this building.
