I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. I can't find a decent white shirt so I wrote a post about my options.

It's not exactly a secret that I'm gay but it might be that my gender often swings from androgynous to femme and back. I am still struggling to find a label that fits it. I'm not quite non-binary as that feels very serious but then other days I feel that fits. Sometimes, I like to be femme so using words like, butch or lesbian feel very foreign to me. If I start saying femme lesbian then I feel I'm denying the part of my identity that sometimes wants to be masc.

One area that I've always struggled with regardless of how I define is the fit of shirts. I am very tired of shirts that nip in at the waist for women. I am quite a tall lady so that 'nip' is often higher on me then it would be on a short woman. I also struggle because I have broad shoulders but yet, I have breasts. If I go for men's shirts then they strain to close across my chest or I go for women's shirts that are tight because of my shoulders.

This is before we get into the length issue caused by my height.

Current options

I currently have two white shirts: one old Topshop one which is made of the worst material that creases when you so much as think about wearing it. The other one is from Monki and is a boxy cut which I love but it's so short. It's cut for a much more petite woman and me, being a moose of a woman, am too big for it. I'm 6ft tall after all. So I wear it but only with a vest underneath it.

Fun fact: I have the same issue with vests that I do with shirts.

Monki oversized shirt £35

Monki have been a bit off lately as they appear to be catering to the lavender loving gen Z crew that love the 00s. So I haven't found anything there in ages. I only found this by pure chance. I'm praying this one holds out until payday in a M/L but I'm keen to see how it looks on. Certainly, the length is promising. I love the idea of this over my skinny jeans or some leggings. I don't quite trust it with just tights....

Kirrin & Finch $150 (£108 approx)

It does gut me that the UK doesn't do sites like Kirrin & Finch. I'm forever finding these amazing androgynous sites that are in the US. I'm starting to give up now and I think I'm just going to start investing. However, we get slapped with an import tax so it worries me that I would have to pay that for an item that might not fit me.

Kirrin & Finch do gorgeous shirts which are exactly what my tiny lesbian heart demands I find. They also do an incredible line of formal wear too.

Hawes & Curtis £39

This a suggestion that I've had recently and I have to admit, I'm impressed by it. I'm surprised that they are so reasonably priced as I imagined they would be a lot more expensive. They have some gorgeous options on there including a gorgeous bow option with bell sleeves that is something I didn't realise I needed. I wanted a plain white shirt but I feel like I need that too.

This is the gothic bell sleeve and bow option. It's a little bit more expensive at £59 but....timeless.

Wild Fang Long Sleeve Button up shirt $52

Another American brand I'm afraid! I am desperate to get some stuff from Wild Fang as I love their style so much. This shirt is currently on sale which makes up for the import tax a little bit. It's wonderfully boxy but also, check out that length. Perfection. The shirt is approximately £38.
