Armani has some interesting views about gay style....which is also awkward as hell

There is nothing more uncomfortable then the interview/conversation/talk turning awkward when someone gets a little....racist or homophobic. We've seen what happens when D&G spoke out about their feelings on homosexuality and parenting. It was uncomfortable and no one liked it.

So it has been a while and another Italian designer decided that it had been a while since someone was a bit offensive in the press. Naturally the best place for him to do this was though the Sunday Times. He came out with this gem of a homophobic piece :

"A homosexual man is a man 100%, He does not need to dress homosexual. When homosexuality is exhibited to the extreme - to say, 'Ah, you know I am homosexual,' - that has nothing to do with me. A man has to be a man.''

Not as bad as D&G? Well, read through it again and pick it to pieces. The first response is a political correct one - that he corrects at the end of statement by saying, a man must be a man. So a man must show strong male style and manliness to be a man then? So no dresses? No sarongs? No sandals?

He does not need to dress homosexual. Homosexual is a style now is it? Since when? Goth, Punk, preppy, homosexual.....

Why do we need to judge others differently from ourselves and why do we need to be rude???

Mind you, Armani much like D&G is on the LGBT spectrum (I like calling it a spectrum) as he has never denied being gay but hasn't outed himself as gay either. He did tell Vanity Fair in 2000 that he had had women and men in his life. So possibly is the same as me, a massive raging bisexual. Who knows.

Homophobia can be internalised. Its where it gets really tricky. Homophobic behaviour can be really hard to deal with, identify and acknowledge. I think if anyone has seen the wonderful Cucumber TV series this year on Channel Four then your man in that (can't say too much don't want to spoil it) is a great example.
